Hallmarks of Tyranny
I believe we are seeing the Hallmarks of Tyranny show through the fabric of society, in the UK, and around the world today.
In this series, I attempt to analyse these signifiers as they show themselves in the UK, and other liberal democracies. I take a look at what I see as happening in society, while drawing on any historical or political phenomena that might help us deal better with our current direction of travel. I fear, if we do not alter this course, a life of freedom and personal sovereignty might become a thing of the past.
In no way, do I equate the totalitarian regimes of the 20th century, and their atrocities, to what I see as the increasing totalitarian tendencies and resulting policies today. They do, however, offer insight into the mechanics of tyranny.
